College Administration

Senior Principal – Dr.Silas Chepkwony

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Moi Teachers College- Baringo. Moi Teachers College-Baringo is an outstanding institution set up to champion teacher training courses. To match performance to this esteemed status, the institution is in the process of being ISO certified and we have had to set and strictly adhere to high standards.

We as an institution are out to offer top notch service and not mere certification. The trust bestowed upon us by the stakeholders humbles us and the numerous statements of support and congratulations motivate us.

The Deputy Principal – Mr. Kiprotich Bitok

The core driving force for Moi Teachers College is to produce mid-level professionals who will devote themselves to  national development through the dissemination of knowledge.  With God’s help and unmerited favor we pledge to do so and expect also to play a major role in actualizing Kenya’s vision 2030. I salute all who have made Moi Teachers College what it is now and look forward to the future with renewed zeal and anticipation.

Dean of Curriculum – Mr. Laban Kiptalam

The office of the Dean of curriculum constitutes the core function of this institution in Teacher Education. It oversees all the academic programmes in the college geared towards implementing and sustaining all academic strategies targeting production of a well trained teacher.

Teacher Education essentially refers to the policies and procedures designed to equip the prospective teachers with the knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and skills they require to perform their tasks effectively in the classroom, school and the wider community.
Although ideally it should be conceived of, and organized as, a seamless continuum, teacher Education is consummated in the following stages.

Initial teacher training / education: This is a pre-service course before entering the classroom as a fully responsible teacher.

2. Induction: The process of providing training and support during the first few years of teaching or the first year in a particular school.

3. Teacher development or continuing professional development:  High quality teaching is vital for the learner’s success, and therefore Teacher Proficiency courses become very essential.
It is in this regard that the office of the dean of curriculum is viewed as the main custodian of the following;

  • Professional development.
  • Personal learning network.
  • Teacher leadership.
  • School leadership.

IT is therefore essential to note that in Moi Teachers training college it is this office in conjunction with all the other stake holders, i.e., departments that advises the office of the Principal on all matters of academic arrangements and progression.

Dean of Students – Dr. Joseph Kiptoo

The Dean of Student’s office provides a link between the Students and the Administration.

It is the office in charge of students welfare in the college under whose charge are the students council/ Body of student leaders.

The DOS deal with the coordination of non-academic departments like Health, Boarding and accommodation, Meals/catering, guiding &counseling and co-curricular activities like Games & sports, Clubs and Societies.

The students Governing Council (SGC) is under the DOS office .
